Pet Food Recall Update - "Safe" Brand List?

The good folks at PetsitUSA.com have compiled a list of pet foods that were NOT part of the recall. Please check it out:

PetsitUSA went through this list and contacted the pet food companies in order to verify that their products were not made by Menu Foods and/or did not contain wheat gluten that may have come from Menu Foods and/or do not contain wheat gluten at all.

One thing that really pissed me off as I ran down the list is just how many companies answered that the source of their ingredients is either "proprietary information" or "confidential."

The other thing that really pissed me off is that MOST of them have at least one kind of product that is made by Menu Foods. All that expensive prescription food comes from the same joint that makes cheapo store brands. What a racket! No wonder it's proprietary information.

In so many ways, pet food mirrors the problems associated with human food. Too much centralization. Too much processing. Too many unregulated imports. And too much goddamn grain in EVERYTHING.

I'm failry concerned as well Several years ago we switched to Innova, then to California Natural dry foods which do not contain wheat but come to find out they are using Menu to process their wet foods. That is a problem for me. Granted we only feed Merrick when we feed wet food which is supposedly fine. *shakes head*
