How I got on LJ

Once upon a time, many years ago, I was on this internet information mailing list called The Internet Tourbus. (And I'm still on it. :) The semi-weekly text newletter highlights interesting websites and gives good advice. They also used to talk about squirrels a lot.
Anyhow, at some point in early 2001 (2000?), the 'bus mentioned LiveJournal so I checked it out and signed up. In April 2001, I made my first tentative post.
I'd written in paper journals for ages, but I was losing the time and patience to keep up with them around then. Typing is so much faster. And then there was/is the whole neato "community" aspect - being able to read what other people are writing, and share what I'm writing - that takes a journal to the next level, into blogdom.
Honestly, I don't think I've written a word in a paper journal since then. LJ is my journal and my letter writing and my entertainment and my pensieve. I have a permanent account. I like it here.
