I am still thinking about trying WoW...I am just worried about spending too much time on it. And having to play with a lot of people (like LotR).

You can solo your way up to 70. I did a helluva lot of soloing with my warlock, though I did do some grouping. It's harder than if you at least group up for instances, but it can be done.

I would *love* to have you try WoW - but I will not be held responsible for any secondary addictions. :p

If you do want to give it a shot, I suggest...

1) Look at some of the WoW videos on YouTube. Make sure you like the graphic style.

2) Try the "free trial". Nothing to lose.

3) If you find out you like it, just buy the basic game (not the Burning Crusade expansion too) unless you absolutely *must* play a Blood Elf or a Draenei. Or if you get a good deal on both game parts.

4) I soloed to 70 on my hunter, never setting foot inside any of the "dungeons" and only grouping for a couple quests. It took a while, but I'm not a team player either and I have patience. More or less. ;)

5) I found I liked the game a *lot* more on an RP-PvE server. Making up a little backstory and interacting in character made the whole experience a lot more fun and creative, IMHO. And sticking to PvE servers means the opposite faction can't attack you.
