LiveJournal Madness
Dec. 6th, 2007 03:18 pmBeing wrapped up in my own angst, I completely missed several LJ changes until today. Since they seriously impact what you see and who you can read, I'll share them here for the edification of any other oblivious types like myself.
1) You can set a default "content level" on your journal now. The catch is, there's only three to choose from: No Adult Content, Adult Concepts, and Explicit Adult Content. You can also set the content level on a post-by-post basis.
2) MOST IMPORTANTLY, you can also set a default "content level" filter for the journals you READ. The catch is, this setting defaults to filtering out all AC or EAC flagged journals/posts UNTIL YOU CHANGE IT. So if you're suddenly wondering why you haven't seen any posts from particularly interesting friends lately, THIS IS WHY.
2) If you do not have a birth year on file with LJ, it will think you're under 14 and filter you out of all AC and EAC flagged journals/posts. (You can enter a birth year and choose not to have it shown on your profile, if you're feeling particularly elderly.)
You can fiddle with your settings here: http://www.livejournal.com/manage/settings/
Scroll down to the adult content options. Go nuts.
I'm not telling anyone what their settings should be, but I'll be flagging my journal for Adult Concepts. If you don't hear anything more from me, #2 above is probably why.
