I confess, I have loved her iconographic images for years but I never realized what a rough and sorrowful life she lead. I'm glad she received recognition and support for her work (eventually) and reached a point of acceptance in her later years.

Her legacy is beautiful, playful, sensual, and something I wish she could have been proud of.
