The most recent episode of Skepticality podcast featured an excellent and painfully timely interview with Dr. Philip Zimbardo, the professor who conducted the Standford Prison Experiment back in 1970. Once you get past the faulty audio at the beginning (mostly on the side of the interviewer, the ever-charming Michael Shermer), the discussion is sharp and very engrossing.

I look forward to reading Zimbardo's book, The Lucifer Effect, "which ponders the question, what causes some people to commit acts of evil while others become unexpected heroes."

In other news, prime evil scumbag Ken Ham has decided that the Virginia Tech massacre was caused by evolution and godless science. Fred Phelps disagrees. God did it.

Fred and Ken can ask Mr. Cho who or what motivated him when they see him. :)

This reminds me of the Bloom book, The Lucifer Principle, with yet more depth to the idea. Very interesting!!!
