Indeed, many of them are pompous asshats. I should know - I dated one for five years. :)
The protest, tho, was not supposed to be about atheists vs. believers, it was about science vs. pseudoscience. I hope that message didn't get too lost in the muddle, but there's a chance it was since the organizers were predominantly from a local atheist group. I heard at least one pastor speak on the stage, but he didn't make it into that video.
I hope we get to see more positive atheists and Xians involved in the support of science together. :)
