Lyrics by Proxy
Jun. 22nd, 2007 12:47 pmBand name! Sorry, couldn't resist. :)
A Live-Journal-less friend (we'll call him Donovan) saw my folk-heavy version of the lyric meme (which, by the way, still has 29 songs unguessed) and sent me his own take on it. I'm kinda stumped, so maybe more people will have a better shot at it. I hope he doesn't mind my sharing~!
1) Sawing at the pavement, repenting their past lives
Might not be the only major left to be left behind
2) When I was a little boy,
I looked under the stairs
The king and the pawns
Were caught unawares
3) Say hello
Before you say goodbye
I should go
Before you make me cry
4) You promised me the ending would be clear
You'd let me know when the time was now
Don't let me know when you're opening the door
Stab me in the dark, let me disappear
5) I caught the moon today, pick it up
And throw it away, all right
6) With history, your bluest grace
Falls apart, cascading down
Speak to me of a beautiful hate
Of island chains swept with the tides
7) I'm here, I'm everywhere
I use matter and motion for my mirror
Yes I am a star in space
Yes I am one soul
8) I must get out once in a while
Everything is starting to die
Dust settles, worms dig,
Spiders crawl over the bed
9) My father was Black,
My mother was Decker
Believe me, my friend,
It doesn't get any better
10) And there's a ... And there's a...
And there's a fine line
Too late to pray that I'm on it
And there's a fine line between love and hate
Came way too late, but baby I'm on it
11) We passed upon the stairs,
Spoke of was and when
Although I wasn't there
He said I was his friend
12) I don't want to tie you down
I don't want to break your stride
So if you gotta go, then go
13) Drifting upward, gently lifted
Lazy on the wind
Rolling over, turning slowly
Beginning at the end
14) Greed causing innocent blood to flow
Entire culture lost in the overthrow
They came to seize and take whatever they please
And all they gave back was death and disease
15) I tend the wheat fields
To make your bread
I bind the sweet veal,
Pluck the hens that make your bed
16) We chase misprinted lies
We face the path of time
And yet I fight
Yet I fight this battle all alone
17) As logic stands, you couldn't meet a man
Who's from the future
But logic broke as he appeared, he spoke
About the future
18) I certainly haven't been shopping for any new shoes
And
I certainly haven't been spreading myself around
I still only travel by foot and by foot it's a slow climb,
But I'm good at being uncomfortable, so
I can't stop changing all the time
19) Who's the girl who'll steal your soul?
Well you know who
Who's the girl who casts the spell,
Secret rituals
20) I was at a funeral
The day I realized
I wanted to spend my life with you
21) Can you stay here next to me?
We'll just keep driving
Because of you I see a light
The Buick's a Century, a '73 like you
22) Can you remember a time when this city was
A great place for architects and debutantes
A nice place for midwives and crossing guards
And on, and on...
23) This day is the day that we rise or we fall
This night is the night that we win or lose all
This time is the time that we wait for a while
This year is the year that we wait with a smile
24) Keys cut three
For the price of one
And nothing's free
But guaranteed
For a lifetime's use
25) *I'll give you all the lyrics to this one and if you know it, you're my hero*
You cook your brain,
You cook in your eyeballs,
It never got around
She's hopin you within one of the nice ones,
I feel it in my heart
You are a cow without any legs
I'm gonna get you cold
So come on a reaction, baby
Don't pretend to lie
Don't talk about it too much, you'll make it so
