Candlelight Vigil in Bloomington

A Message from Rev. Bill Breeden, Unitarian Universalist Church of Bloomington, Indiana:

This Wednesday, July 30, at 7:00 p. m., Rev. Macklin and I will be leading a candlelight vigil in response to the violence visited upon our brothers and sisters at the Tennessee Valley UU Church in Knoxville. The interconnected web of families and friends in our faith community touches every congregation, and we have some close connections to persons directly traumatized by this violence. We will gather in our sanctuary, our safe place, to heal our own spirits and to encircle the Knoxville community with our prayers and thoughts.

One of my fellow college alums and his family were at that service. Thankfully none of them were hurt but they were obviously very shaken by the event. I still find the whole event hard to grok. I think about the people that moved to restrain the shooter and wonder if I would have the fortitude to do the same. I honor them all.
